About Our Group

After more than 40 years of serving the community, PCD Counseling and its board are retiring. It is the end of a meaningful chapter, and for those of us who have been part of that work, the transition brought up an important question: what happens to the care, collaboration, and clinical community that had been built over all those years?

While the board is retiring, several of the remaining clinicians wanted to continue the work we had been doing together. We wanted to preserve the parts of PCD that mattered most to us: the warmth, the collaboration, the mutual respect, and the steady commitment to thoughtful, ethical counseling.

Brighten the Path Counseling Group grew out of that desire. We are a group of counselors who chose to keep working together because the culture we had built mattered — not only to us as clinicians, but to the clients and community we serve.

We believe good therapy is supported by a healthy clinical community. When therapists are connected, supported, and able to consult with one another, clients benefit. They receive care that is thoughtful, grounded, and less isolated.

Our group is intentionally collaborative and steady. We value teamwork over competition, consultation over isolation, and ethical care over burnout. Behind the scenes, that means open communication, professional support, and a shared commitment to doing meaningful work well. For clients, it means being met with consistency, compassion, and care from the first point of contact.

We are clinically grounded and spiritually inclusive. Each of our therapists is able to integrate faith into counseling when it is meaningful to the client, while also drawing from psychological, relational, and trauma-informed frameworks. Faith integration is always client-led, never assumed or required. What unites us is a shared respect for each person’s story, values, and lived experience. All are welcome here.

At Brighten the Path, therapy is not about treating people like they are broken. It is about walking alongside people as they gain clarity, build resilience, and learn to trust themselves more deeply. We are honored to continue this work together and to carry forward a legacy of care in a way that feels honest, human, and hopeful.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer individual therapy, couples counseling, and family therapy. Our clinicians work with adolescents, teens, adults, and couples, and specialize in areas such as anxiety, trauma, self-worth, life transitions, relationships, and emotional regulation.

  • We primarily work with preteens, teens, and adults. Each clinician has unique specialties, so we’ll help match you with someone who aligns with your needs, goals, and preferences.

  • Finding the right fit matters. After you reach out, we’ll ask a few questions about what you’re looking for and help connect you with a therapist who feels like a good match. You’re also welcome to explore our therapist bios and let us know if someone stands out to you.

  • Some of our clinicians accept insurance, while others offer private-pay options. Insurance availability can vary by provider. We recommend contacting us directly so we can help you understand your options and verify coverage if applicable.

  • That’s completely okay. Many clients choose private pay for flexibility, privacy, or simplicity. We offer self-pay rates and can provide superbills upon request for potential out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Yes. We offer secure telehealth sessions for clients located in Colorado. Virtual therapy can be a great option if you prefer to meet from home or have a busy schedule.

  • The first session is a chance to get to know each other. Your therapist will ask about what’s bringing you in, your goals, and any relevant background. There’s no pressure to share everything at once—you set the pace.

  • At Brighten the Path Counseling Group, being faith-sensitive but inclusive means we respect and honor your beliefs—without assuming them and without imposing our own.

If your faith, spirituality, or religious background is meaningful to you, we’re open to integrating that into therapy in a way that feels supportive and aligned with your values. If faith has been complicated, painful, or is not part of your life at all, that is equally respected.

Therapy with us is not faith-based unless you want it to be. We welcome clients of all belief systems, including those who are religious, spiritual-but-not-religious, questioning, deconstructing, or non-religious.

You are always in control of how much (or how little) faith shows up in the work.
